Certificate Verification Policy

This Policy applies to every digital service certificate generated from a record held on the National Vehicle Service Register.

Each certificate is issued a unique reference that is bound to the underlying record. The reference remains valid for the life of the record and is used to look up the certificate on the register.

A certificate may be verified through the register website by entering the reference or by scanning the printed QR code. The verification view displays:

• the current status of the certificate
• the publishing workshop identity
• the record publication date
• the vehicle identifier as recorded
• any restriction notice in force

• Active — the record is published and in force
• Amended — a later version supersedes the referenced record; the amendment history is available
• Restricted — public visibility is restricted pending review; verification returns a neutral notice
• Withdrawn — the record has been withdrawn following investigation or legal requirement

A certificate confirms only that a matching record exists on the register in the state shown. It does not warrant workmanship, current vehicle condition or roadworthiness.

Any certificate that fails verification against the register should be treated as unverified. Suspected forgery may be reported through the contact form for investigation.
